The presenter: Dr Wendy Pollock is a critical care nurse and midwife who undertook her PhD on critically ill pregnant and postpartum women. She has extensive clinical, education and research experience on illness in pregnancy.

The program: This clinically focused one-day seminar will outline the key physiological adaptations in pregnancy and discuss clinical deterioration in pregnancy; provide an overview on the incidences, risk factors, recognition and management of the two most common conditions associated with critical illness in pregnancy: preeclampsia and obstetric haemorrhage. Finally, maternal collapse and resuscitation will be presented. It is suitable for midwives, intensive care nurses, cardiac nurses, emergency nurses, anaesthesia nurses, doctors and any health professional interested in learning about critical illness associated with pregnancy. The latest research and evidence-based clinical guidelines are incorporated into the program.
